Embracing my tears

Embracing my tears
Until they make me smile
The chill of the blues
Melts at the touch of a child

Caught in the gravity
Of the knowledge of depravity
Hope grins through
Rained filled clouds

In silence
Or thunder claps
Tears lead to laughs heard out loud

Reality gives depression a grasp
The present now becomes the past
Without tears and laughter
Sanity unlocks its hasp

Another Day to Say Hey

Another Day to Say

Living for another day
To say hey

As the edifices I build
Are eroded by the sands of time
If they all fall down
I really don't seem to mind
I am living for another day
To say hey

Exaggerated importance
As I stare at my stuff
And add to my degrees
I am finding satisfaction
Living for another day
To say hey

I want my land protected
From enemies within and without
The strength we muster
As brothers exchange shouts
Semper Fi desires are met
With another day
To say hey

The happiest of moments
Are spent with the faces in my life
In the simplest and profoundest things
Like giving and receiving advice
And living for another day
To say hey

Playing cards and laughing
In accents made up at kitchen tables
When we get too tired
We watch a movie on the tv cable
And end another day
To say hey

Hugs from children
Who snuggle close and tight
Pull the blankets high
As you tuck them in at night
If I am fortunate to see old age
I hope those I tuck in
Ambition extends
To another day
To say hey
