A Day At The Office

A DAY AT THE OFFICE

I Loved The Euphoria
'Where Have You Been All My Life'
I said!

Then I boiled off two of my fingers while cooking hot dogs
I thought I should get help
I hope I can finish high school
I am glad my grandmother didn't kick me out when I was stealing from her!!!

'Next' Shouts nurse from the dosing station

Have you got a bandaid?
Or some goss?
I have blood pouring out this abscess

The former injection site is bone thick
And as tight as a three wine corks pushed under lanky muscled
Suntanned skin
Darkened
While walking sidewalks fumed by
RITPs 22 & 11 bus lines

His grey hair was recently trimmed
He is very polite and several people kindly search for what he needs
No one judges
But all appear relieved the wound was not their own

Can you check this note?
The young,
Eager
Flowing skirt, and inexperienced, counselor was not sure what she should include in her first assessment of the suicidal client whose laptop screen was projecting voices to his mind.

Fortunately he was experienced at psychosis and was willing to go to the hospital !

7 intakes tomorrow!
3 staff members coming in early to prepare!!
Just another day at the office.....

My Drive

I drove through the past
To imagine my future
Memories only significant to me
Demonstrate human decisions
Only spin the wheel
To roads paved
At the crossroads
Of fate and faith

The great internal debates
Could have turned here
Could have turned there
Matter little
When you have been blessed
On roads of gravel, sand or tar

My chronic paranoia
About the motives
Of the headlights
That dilate my eyes
Teach me
There are moments
It is ok to drive blind

I want to clear the clogs
In the carburetor of my insight
Breathing crisp air
On future roads
Where even darkness is light

My Invitation

Most of my generation has
Lived life in peace
For the most part
We have had
It easy and sweet
Hardly any concern
For basic needs
But we lost sight of
Thank you and Please

We are not entitled to
Have it this good
Others who live
In our time
Can't find a grain of rice
In the village or
Neighborhood

Hungry men fight
Not because
War is a delight
But because
Taken care of your own
Is the ultimate human right

Oppression at home
Makes some wise run
Other stay
Because there is hope
Until the breathing is done

But far too many
Have been murdered
At the hands
Of an addicted child
Taught genocide
And the use of a machine gun

I get the argument
For a wall to keep others out
But I got bread to share
So I am going to shout

Come to my home brother
In the land of ease
Because not too long ago
My Grandmother
Was the immigrant
Fleeing war
Hungry and
In need
