My Invitation

Most of my generation has
Lived life in peace
For the most part
We have had
It easy and sweet
Hardly any concern
For basic needs
But we lost sight of
Thank you and Please

We are not entitled to
Have it this good
Others who live
In our time
Can't find a grain of rice
In the village or
Neighborhood

Hungry men fight
Not because
War is a delight
But because
Taken care of your own
Is the ultimate human right

Oppression at home
Makes some wise run
Other stay
Because there is hope
Until the breathing is done

But far too many
Have been murdered
At the hands
Of an addicted child
Taught genocide
And the use of a machine gun

I get the argument
For a wall to keep others out
But I got bread to share
So I am going to shout

Come to my home brother
In the land of ease
Because not too long ago
My Grandmother
Was the immigrant
Fleeing war
Hungry and
In need
