Men of Peace

The suppressed man of peace
Submits to the bullying and battering beast

Seeking release
He builds muscle and might
For the strength to fight
For what is right

Strengthened he takes his stand

To speak
When silence is the demand

To remain silent
A speech the oppressor
Cannot understand

Dignity and Honor
Will rule the day
The arc of the moral universe
Bends justice's way

Trusting in the higher good of man
Has not often been done
When it has
Goodness has won

Not in quick fixes
But in softened hearts
Entire Kingdoms
Have made new starts

Men of peace
Are men of hope
Eternal words they have spoke

Wearied soul
Grab hold
Be bold
Men of peace are rare
Learn from their words
Imitate
As you can
Their precious mold
